The Importance of a Morning Routine
If there’s one thing I have realised through relocating it’s how easily you don’t know you have a set routine until it’s gone. This episode with Steven Bartlett and Dr. Rangan Chatterjee is more than just saying wake up, do exercise and meditate.
✈️When I arrived in Dubai, I felt so lost within the first couple of months because my entire routine I had in the UK had to shift and adapt to creating a new one here.
👉🏼Now, 5 months on and more specifically in the last month have I only began to get more on track towards a morning routine, but there’s definitely still room for improvement. I’m lucky that I moved here with my boyfriend which means we are supporting each other’s accountability when creating these routines and have now set out a timetable and goals for this month with the hopes to get us fully on track again.
What Dr. Rangan Chatterjee makes clear is setting yourself up to succeed ⭐️Which is something I have spoken about previously when trying to build your confidence, the same applies to a morning routine.
If you want to fit exercise in during your morning then lay out all of your gear next to your bed so that it’s right there when you wake up meaning one less barrier to get through mentally because you don’t have to think much. Where are my shoes? Where are my headphones? And so on. It’s there ready to go, so that you can get out the door.
☀️ A morning routine sets yourself up for the day and if continued daily, can keep you focused. A routine is just small habits and actions that are continually practiced until it becomes your lifestyle.
You can start small with whatever morning rituals you like - ideally that contribute to your physical and mental wellbeing (as they are linked after all) that make you feel good and energised to continue your day.
We missed our morning routine on a few occasions during September and dramatically saw a difference in our moods and motivation. Which is why I so strongly strive for a good morning routine and getting back on track!
Your days create your weeks, which create your months, which create your years… so make them count! 💪
