Remote working isn’t always what it seems!

remote working

Having moved to Dubai 5 months ago (how has it almost been half a year already?!😲) it meant going FULLY into remote working, navigating the world of freelance all whilst trying to settle into a new city… which has been intense to say the least.😅

WFH everyday is boring. There, I said it. 🙊 The problem is that spending endless amounts of money on coffee - which depending on where you go can cost £7 even £10 here! - £4 croissants, £15 salad bowls, £10 sandwiches, water (not free on tap out here), taxis and anything else, everyday, all adds up! It isn’t sustainable.

On top of expensive food+drink you have:

👉🏼 Places with weak wifi
👉🏼 Getting a table next to plug sockets
👉🏼 Finding with the right balance between a good atmosphere but no music being blasted out so I can’t hear colleagues on calls.
👉🏼 Right temperature - not too hot, not too cold… just right.

🏝I see a lot of posts with people sat outside with their laptop next to a pool and whilst that may be true for some I’m sure it’s not for other remote workers/freelancers (believe me i’ve tried but sun reflection + heat + no plugs = nightmare)

It’s nice to think the photo below is a view and setting I have everyday with my aesthetic cappucino ☕️and super trendy furniture making me feel like I’m living the digital nomad life. Unfortunately that’s not always the case 🤷🏻‍♀️

A lot of conversations recently with friends have shed more light on just how much we can compare ourselves to others.

So sometimes I think we need a reminder that things aren’t always as they seem!
